INTERZUM HIGHLIGHT: Idea lifting column from Häfele - Living comfort becomes lifestyle

Lifting systems for comfortable, barrier-free living are becoming an increasingly popular constituent of trendy furniture and living ideas. More and more people are discovering the advantages of table or worktops that can be conveniently raised and lowered and therefore adapted to individual requirements – irrespective of age or physical handicap. The lifestyle living ideas that can be achieved with a “simple” lift were impressively demonstrated by Häfele at Interzum 2007 in Cologne.

It takes little more than the new Idea lifting column from Häfele’s Vitaflex product range and a few good ideas to turn normal furniture into trendy furniture that will impress both big and small, and young and old. The lifting system is predestined for installation in kitchens, where the only previous options was to adapt individual areas such as the sink or the cooking hob to the required height in the form of islands. Häfele is now providing this convenience for the entire kitchen: The entire worktop can be synchronously raised and lowered using up to 16 lifting columns, including the sink and the cooker. This applies to any configuration or angle – straight kitchen units, L and U-shaped kitchens and kitchen islands. The planning and design options are therefore practically endless – kitchen furniture manufacturers and designers will be impressed by the possibilities that this opens up.

Trendy solutions for living areas
The Idea column can also conveniently open up storage space at the push of a button by lifting shelves out of a base unit and providing convenient access. One particularly interesting idea is the extending breakfast bar at the kitchen counter in which all of the necessary utensils are stored, which “submerges” again after breakfast! The dining table that can be raised to standing height for parties is also a neat idea.
There are also many other application areas for lifting columns in the living area. For example, anyone who likes to watch films with surround sound but doesn’t otherwise want to see the speakers can simply make them disappear into the living room cabinet.

One column lifts up to 60 kg
The lifting system is not just outstanding because of its compact installation dimensions and slimline appearance – it is also extremely powerful. With even load distribution, a lifting column can lift up to 60 kg. The frame and the end frames are made from plastic-coated stainless steel in white aluminium colour (RAL 9006), and the end caps are made from black plastic. The column is raised and lowered electrically (continuously adjustable) using a pushbutton: The maximum lift is 675 mm, and the upper height can be limited in accordance with requirements. Different positions can also be programmed and retrieved using a memory function.
If necessary, up to 16 lifting columns can be combined in a frame system using this modular system. Corner and hinged joints make variable across-corner installation possible. Subsequent changes or additions can be made without problems. The lifting column is secured to the wall, or the base or top of the furniture.
